We’re excited to announce a unique Socality x Canon Creator Lab holiday creative experience at the Calgary Marriott Downtown. Join us on the afternoon of December 11th where you’ll have the opportunity to connect with the local creative community. This private event will allow the community to connect and create together centred around the Calgary Marriott’s rooftop skating rink as the sun goes down. Nearby Stephen Avenue will also be decked out in lights and you’ll have a beautiful assortment of views and creative opportunities. Winter weather can be unpredictable, so you’ll have access to a room adjacent to the rooftop patio to warm up if it’s a little chilly and grab some snacks and hot chocolate.
We’ll also have a few figure skaters that will be on site and you’ll be able to bring your own skates if you’d like to take advantage of the rooftop rink for yourself!
As part of the Canon Creator Lab program and in collaboration with The Camera Store, a selection of Canon gear will be available to try including mirrorless bodies and the latest lenses. If you’d like to borrow Canon equipment to shoot during the event, please bring your own SD Card and a valid piece of government ID. A limited amount of gear will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Whether your interest lies in photography, video, social media, or another creative discipline, these events are inclusive and open to everyone, regardless if you’re just starting out on your creative journey or have been in the industry for years.
This event will be great for anyone looking to:
- Expand their creative network and meet others in the creative industry and community in Alberta and beyond.
- Capture images / video in and around the rooftop patio and skating rink at the Calgary Marriott Downtown and surrounding area in a fun and social atmosphere.
- Try out a variety of Canon gear, including mirrorless bodies and lenses.
