Ernie Gilbert – From Script to Screen: Storytelling & Filmmaking
Ernie Gilbert is an LA-based director and editor known for bold, emotionally resonant storytelling. He rose to prominence editing Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” (Grammy Award Winner) and has contributed to acclaimed projects such as Atlanta (FX), Barry (HBO), War Pony (Cannes), Opus (A24), and Somebody I Used to Know (Amazon).
Ernie shares his creative journey, insights, and filmmaking process behind his short film The Production Assistant. He’ll take attendees behind the scenes to show how he used the Canon EOS C50 in a real-world production environment, demonstrating how storytelling, rhythm, and gear come together to create cinematic impact.
Nicole Ashley – Posing and Directing Real People
An internationally recognized portrait and wedding photographer based in Alberta, Nicole has captured stories across the globe, from Italy and Iceland to Australia. She’s known for her emotive imagery and ability to make every subject feel seen.
Nicole will share her process for building genuine connection with everyday people, helping them feel comfortable in front of the camera to create authentic, emotionally rich portraits. Learn how to guide and direct clients naturally while staying true to your artistic voice.
Simon d’Entremont – Wildlife Photography Beyond Settings
Simon is a Nova Scotia-based nature photographer and educator whose YouTube channel has inspired thousands to explore the outdoors through photography. His adventures span from Arctic landscapes to African savannas.
Simon explores the creative mindset behind powerful wildlife imagery—focusing not just on camera settings, but on awareness, composition, and storytelling that make your photos stand out. Discover how to anticipate and translate wild moments into unforgettable images.
