How much does it cost to join Canon Student Advantage?

We know school is expensive so we’re here to help! An annual Canon Student Advantage membership is free to all eligible students enrolled in a Canadian secondary or post-secondary educational institution.

Is my student discount available on sale items?

Yes, your Canon Student Advantage discount is on top of the listed sale price of eligible models at participating dealers.

How many purchases can I make with my Canon Student Advantage membership?

With your Canon Student Advantage membership, you’re eligible to receive a discount on up to 4 products for each membership period. Four (4) purchases includes up to two bodies or body/lens kits, and up to two lenses.

If I need to service or repair my gear how long will it take for me to get it back?

With your Canon Student Advantage membership, you get expedited service turnaround. For warranty repairs, Canon will repair your equipment within six (6) business days of receiving your damaged equipment at our repair facility in Brampton, Ontario and will ship it back to you free of charge. For out-of-warranty repairs, once we receive your gear at our repair facility, a Canon technician will estimate it in 24-48 hours. Repairs can take up to six (6) business days to complete once we receive your payment. A shipping charge will be added to estimates for out-of-warranty repairs (see below).

How much is my discount on service and repairs?

Canon Student Advantage members receive a 20% discount (parts and labour) on eligible products. Repairs are priced on a parts and labour basis, and each repair is estimated separately.

Who at Canon will deal with my service and repair requests?

Service and repair requests for students are administered through our Canon Professional Services (CPS) department. You can generate a shipping label from your online portal to ship your equipment to CPS for assessment and repair.

How much does it cost to ship my equipment to Canon Canada?

Canon Student Advantage members receive subsidized incoming overnight shipping charges ($15) when eligible product shipments are identified using our Canon Student Advantage shipping waybill. These charges will be added to the service or repair estimate. Return shipping is free for warranty repairs, and a flat $15 fee will be charged for return shipping of out-of-warranty service.

What do I need to be part of Canon Student Advantage?

You’re eligible to join the Canon Student Advantage annual membership as long as you’re a student at an accredited secondary or post-secondary educational institution in Canada, and can provide proof in the form of a student ID card. In the odd case where students have not been given an ID card, a course schedule or letter from the institution are acceptable to confirm enrolment.

Is all Canon gear eligible for a service discount?

No, there is a restricted list of eligible products in order to guarantee parts availability and to reduce service times. The restricted list covers current professional product that is covered by the Canon Student Advantage service plan. Products not on this list will not be covered by the Canon Student Advantage service turnaround guidelines nor will they be eligible for service discount. Please contact Canon Student Services to inquire about a specific product.
