No. Submitting to the photo book open call is completely free for all Canon Creator Lab members.
Yes. You must have reached the legal age of majority in your province or territory of residence.
Up to five total: one for each category (Play, Together, Lost, Up, and Journey).
No. Each image can only be entered into one category. Choose whichever fits best.
No. You can submit one image per category, for a maximum of five total submissions.
Trust your instinct. Every category is intentionally open to interpretation, and we won’t reassign your photo to a different one.
No. We only accept photographs you captured and edited yourself. AI-generated or AI-altered images aren’t eligible.
Yes. Film photography is welcome. Submit a high-quality scan of your print or negative.
Yes. Edited and retouched images are accepted within reason. Standard adjustments like color, exposure, and cropping are fine.
Yes, as long as you own the rights to the image and it meets the other eligibility requirements.
JPEG or TIFF, with a file size no larger than 100 MB.

No. Once an entry is submitted, it can’t be changed.
Submissions close Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
After submissions close our team will review every entry. We expect selections to be finalized by the end of summer. If you’re selected, we’ll reach out to you directly by email.
We won’t be sending individual notes to entries that aren’t selected. Once the full selection process is complete, we’ll share an announcement so you’ll know where things stand. Anyone selected will also receive a direct email.
You’ll receive a complimentary hardcover copy of the book and an invitation to celebrate the launch in person at our gallery exhibition event this fall.
We may feature some submissions on our social channels during the open call to celebrate the community response. Being featured there doesn’t guarantee a spot in the final book.
By submitting, you grant Canon a license to use your photo for the book, the launch event, and Canon’s own marketing and promotional materials. Full details are in the Terms and Conditions.
Yes. If anyone in your photo is clearly identifiable, you’ll need their consent — or, if they’re a minor, a parent or guardian’s — before submitting.
