Meet the team

Our FUTURES Mentors have all trail blazed their own unique paths in the creative world. With backgrounds in photography, filmmaking, and other creative specialties, each FUTURES Mentor will bring their deep industry knowledge, personal experiences, and expert insights to your FUTURES workshops. Our Panellists also have the exciting task of selecting the 20 program participants from our applicants. Get to know some of your FUTURES Mentors and Panellists below!

PANELLISTS

Justin Wu

Photographer & Director Justin Wu is an award-winning film director and photographer based in Toronto. He was born and raised here, but spent most of his 20s abroad living in Paris and New York.

Pam Lau

Photographer Pam Lau is a photographer based in Toronto and Montréal. Recipient of the Applied Arts Young Blood Photography Award and named a photographer to watch in a 500px spotlight on Asian Heritage Month. Co-founder of grassroots educational initiative Ecru.

Richard Bernardin

Photographer Richard is a photographer and artist of Haitian descent based in Montreal and New York. After briefly studying film and photography, Richard embarked on a successful international career in fashion photography. He’s currently at work on multiple personal projects including a solo exhibition and two books.

Scott Bakken

Photographer Scott is passionate about creating spaces where people can connect and build authentic relationships. In 2014, he founded Socality, a creative community that exists to inspire people from all walks of life to create things that make a difference.

Brett Gaskell Marketing Director Working as a Senior Director of Customer Experience for Canon Canada, Brett leads a team that has helped deliver #1 market share across multiple product categories and developed the Canon Creator Lab. Throughout his years of experience in marketing, e-commerce, and new business, he offers a wealth of expertise from the important client/brand perspective.
